Medizone International, Inc. (MZEI: OTCBB) Senate Budget Focuses on
Hospital Acquired Infections

Medizone International, Inc. (OTCBB:  MZEI) is in the very
advanced stage of developing AsepticSure™ technology which fights
hospital acquired infections.

AsepticSure™  is close to coming to market … and the
demand is enormous.  Hospital Acquired Infections have been hidden by
hospitals for a very long time.  News of these infections is bubbling
up … every where.  Notably, this past week the Senate Budget
Committee focused on these insidious infections.

The demand for a product and a delivery system able to address
Hospital Acquired Infetions is virtually EVERYWHERE.  Hospitals are
desperate to clean up these infections and Medizone International is
coming very close to being able to market their product.  The Senate
understands dollars and cents — AsepticSure™  has the
potential to return real value to private insurance companies, Medicare,
Medicaid and to save lives.

I want you to understand … the problem of Hospital Acquired
Infections is enormouse and the solutions are vitually non-existent.
What Medizone International, Inc. brings to to the table here has enormous
ramifications.

Senate Testimony February 10, 1010

The Senate Budget Committee met and a major focus of the Senate
Committee discussion was solving the Hospital Acquired Infection problem
in the United States.

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) focused on a report by testifying
witness, Dr. Penner, “Choosing the Nation’s Fiscal
Future”.

In quoting from the report Senator Sheldon noted:

[In the case of ] system-wide reforms, in many cases — if a
hospital increases quality, reduces hospital- acquired infections
conceivably to zero, is no longer paying — we’re no longer
paying $70,000 per hospital-acquired infection — then it’s not
just the Medicare system that saves; it’s the entire —
it’s everybody who’s paying for health care that
saves.

Senator Sheldon noted: “It’s the first time that
I’ve seen a budget document address, in anything other than a very
cursory way, the value that can be achieved from reform in the health-care
delivery system. You put it in the context on pages 85 to 86, and then
later on 95 to 102 of the Medicare system.”

And I’d like to ask you, if we’re good at that — and
I take the number as being somewhere between $700 billion a year in excess
cost and waste, which is the White House Counsel of Economic
Advisers’ number, and a trillion dollars a year in excess cost and
waste, which is the Lewin Group and Treasury Secretary O’Neill
number, that if we can get a significant chunk of that — and I know
it will take time, and I know, to use your, I think, very accurate phrase,
it will be an “ongoing learning process”  …
isn’t it true that many of the benefits of that will fall outside
the Medicare and Medicaid system and will help with the overall burden of
health-care cost that the economy has to bear, helping, in fact, private
companies that are buying in the private market in parallel with the
assistance to Medicare and Medicaid?

MR. PENNER: I think that’s absolutely right. You can categorize
Medicare options into two categories, I think; one, the sort of options
that you’re talking about. If we could get rid of infections in
hospitals or reduce the readmission rate, that would help the whole
system, including private insurance.

SEN. WHITEHOUSE: That, to me, is one of the real values of focus on
delivery-system reform, because it’s really a win-win. It’s
not a zero-sum game in which you’re shifting costs off the
government and onto the private sector. And because people resist that and
build new devices to prevent it, you’re actually probably adding the
net health- care costs. In some of those circumstances, as the insurance
mechanism develops to try to continue to game the system and create
additional costs for people and the system gaming behavior.

Unprecedented Kill Rates Foundation for Second Patent Application
and Full Scale Hospital Mockup Underway

Medizone International announced unprecedented success in being able
to predictably achieve 6 log (99.9999%) kill rates for the causative
agents of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs) represented with
AsepticSure™.

All samples tested during the third round of trials were either
completely destroyed, that is no growth compared to the control samples,
or so significantly reduced that the effect met the 6 log definition for
sterilization.

The actual results of this series of tests indicate reductions in
pathogens, commonly associated with HAIs, can reliably be achieved by
AsepticSure™ as follows:

  • >6.5 log for C difficile
  • >7 log for MRSA
  • 7 log for E-coli
  • 6.6 log for VRE
  • 7 log for Pseudomonas aeruginous
  • > 7 log for Bacillus subtilis

The sterilization of contaminated hospital spaces with a fully
portable unit is now within reach without enormous expense, which will
translate into greatly reduced suffering, thousands of lives saved and a
dramatic cost benefit for the health care system globally.
