Raven Biofuels International Announces Corporate Outlook and
Milestones for Q1-2010
2010-01-06 07:00 ET – News Release
ATLANTA, GA — (MARKET WIRE) — 01/06/10
Raven Biofuels International Corporation (PINKSHEETS: RVBF) ("Raven" or the
"Company") is pleased to announce the company’s objectives for Q1-2010.
Raven has two key projects in development today. Both projects are commercial
scale (11 MGY output) designed to be scalable for future expansion. The first
proposed project is in conjunction with Raven Biofuels Ltd (RBL) in BC, Canada.
The proposed biorefinery location is in Kamloops, BC through a Joint Venture
(JV) with the Kamloops Indian Band (KIB) called the Tk’emlups Biorefinery
Project.
Goals for this project in Q1 are:
– Complete preliminary engineering study
– Conclude feedstock study
– Hire key personnel
– Finalize site agreements
– Initiate permitting
– Initial feedstock testing
– Initial feedstock supply agreements
– Sign initial off-take agreements for biorefinery products
– Secure additional public and private funding sources
The second proposed project is in Mississippi. Goals for the project in Q1
are:
– Conduct feedstock study
– Initial feedstock testing
– Initial feedstock supply agreements
– Finalise site agreement
– Identify additional public and private funding sources
Management believes that there are efficiencies in pursuing both projects
simultaneously via shared information that can significantly reduce engineering
and testing costs. Further benefits may be realized on purchasing of key
components.
2010 is poised to be a defining year for the biofuels industry where ethanol
is estimated to grow to 8.9% of the motor fuel supply. It is anticipated that
the EPA will move the "blend wall" and grant a partial E15 waiver for 2001 cars
and newer by mid-year that could affect over 50,000,000 vehicles. The EPA has
stated, "Our engineering assessment to date indicates that the fuel, engine, and
emission control systems on newer vehicles (2001 and newer model years) will
likely be able to accommodate higher ethanol blends such as E15.." It will be
difficult for the EPA to gracefully backpedal from a statement like that. It is
further expected that later in 2010 the EPA will issue an "all automobile"
waiver. Many believe that these are key turning points for investment to flow
into the industry again. Companies that have managed their way through the last
few years and have improved their business models and technology will be
positioned to receive this next wave of capital.
With automobiles becoming more fuel efficient and renewable fuels being
developed, America is solidly on a path to energy independence. For the first
time in history, America is lessening its dependence on fossil fuels and foreign
oil. Energy independence is a matter of National Security and now is officially
a matter of public health and welfare. "GHGs are the primary driver of climate
change, which can lead to hotter, longer heat waves that threaten the health of
the sick, poor or elderly; increases in ground-level ozone pollution linked to
asthma and other respiratory illnesses; as well as other threats to the health
and welfare of Americans," according to the EPA press statement.
